Biochemistry Advising

Welcome to the Biochemistry Office of Student Affairs! This office provides valuable services to both graduate and undergraduate students. The undergraduate advising portion of the office houses the academic advising folders for our nearly 200 undergraduate majors in Biochemistry. In addition, we coordinate registration activities for each semester, including your assignment to one of 12 faculty members who serve as undergraduate academic advisors. We mail advising information to you and distribute printed information and other handouts about the program, department, and university. If you are a prospective student in Biochemistry, we can meet with you and your parents. We are happy to also make referrals and answer questions. Other resources we provide include course information, a computer for your use when registering, posters and catalogs from graduate institutions, career planning, and summer research opportunities.

All biochemistry students are assigned a faculty advisor. If you are a first or second semester freshman, we require you to meet with your advisor during registration periods and at other times when advice is needed. If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior you may plan your schedule without consulting a biochemistry advisor, but self-advising is not recommended. Advisors are always available by appointment and advising information is mailed to all biochemistry majors prior to each registration period.

Advising Appointment System

Majors, use our online system to find out who your assigned Biochemistry faculty advisor is and to schedule an advising appointment with your advisor. Important informational announcements will also be posted to the system. This is a secure system and your university NetID and password are required to log in.

In order to better serve you, Office of Student Affairs appointments must be scheduled in advance. Please call 333-7149 to make an appointment to meet with Louise Cox.
