Postdoctoral Researchers to Work on Antitoxin Therapeutics
Department of Microbiology
Two NIH-funded postdoctoral research positions are available to study the design of post-exposure antitoxin therapeutics against botulinum neurotoxins in the laboratory of Dr. Brenda Wilson at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There is currently no effective antidote for preventing or reversing botulism or paralysis once exposure has occurred and symptoms of disease have initiated. A major goal of this research is to design novel post-exposure antitoxin platforms for neuronal cell-specific delivery of therapeutic inhibitors. Candidates would be working at the chemistry-biology interface and should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical biology, or a related field with experience in protein chemistry or protein engineering and molecular biology techniques.
For more information about the laboratory visit the Web site.
Applications including a cover letter, C.V., and 3 references should be submitted to Dr. Brenda Wilson at bawilson@life.uiuc.edu.
